Reviews– The DCP-120C is only a small footprint all-in-one. It is ideal for printing everything from your child’s homework to that presentation you need to do for a client. The DCP-120C also has an automatic document feeder to scan quickly and easily and copy multiple pages and media card slots for the digital camera to print your photos with or without a computer.

The use of a printer, scanner and photocopier need not take a huge amount of space. After all, there are several multifunction or all-in-one devices currently available that cover the three tasks of printing, scanning and copying in one unit. Recently join these happy band devices is the brother DCP-120C.

This silver and black MFD (Multi-Function Device) uses four ink cartridges for black, cyan, magenta and yellow. It connects to the computer via a USB cable that was not supplied. In order to save on desk space required, brother has both input and output characteristics of paper in the front of the machine. The paper input tray holds up to 100 sheets of A4 while at the same time serving as support for any printer output.

Mounted on top of the unit is a flatbed scanner that is capable of an optical resolution of 600 x 2400 dpi interpolated or 19,200dpi. The scanner supports multiple individual sheets or pages using the built-in ADF (automatic document feeder) built on top of the unit. Note that each page fed from the ADF is treated as a separate file instead of individual pages in a single document.

Located on the right side of the unit is a control panel. Machine configuration is relatively simple, although there are a couple of long pauses that might make you think that the process has stalled. Brother has included an option to reinstall the software suite supplied MFL-Pro if an error is found. This happened in my case, but any fault was probably due to protection software running on the test system who opposed some of the changes that the installation brother tried to apply to the system configuration.
